FlashBlaster: Flash To Go
by John Townley
November 6, 2000

The Prehistoric Grind
Back in hunter-gatherer days, when cooking first came on the scene, if you wanted it cooked, you had to cook it yourself. There were no restaurants where you could get grilled saber-toothed tiger to go. These days you can have it your way at Burger King.

Same with Flash by Macromedia. Despite its popularity, if you want to use it, up until now you have had to learn to do it yourself or hire someone else who knows how. That's particularly annoying, if all you want is some nice Flash on your site as a one-shot.

Modern Conveniences
Well, that day is over. If you just want some cool images and sounds you can decorate your site with, complete with your own custom text and lots of flexibility to modify it to your taste, ready to click on, drop into your site, and go, ScreamDesign's FlashBlaster can do it for you for a song - like to the tune of $9.95-$29.95 or even free!

What is FlashBlaster?
It's literally an on-line Flash building service (that makes ScreamDesign an ASP or Application Service Provider), where you plug in a bunch of personal choices and then drop the whole thing into your Web site (mostly you'll want to use it to make a splash page). It's not a replacement for learning Flash, but a great intro to it, and an easy way to get instant results if you don't want or need to do more than one or two projects. Plus, if after you've gotten into Flash this easy way and you then want to go further, there are tutorials and links from the ScreamDesign Web site to help you become a full-blown Flash expert. Of course if you want a Flash education you could always go to the best Flash info site on the Web: FlashKit (our sister site).

Splash on a Little Flash
You can modify FlashBlaster's wide variety of ready-made Flash templates with your choice of font, font size, font color, sound files and JPEGs. And FB comes with complete instructions, tips, and hints that walk the most rank novice through the whole process. Here's precisely what you have to do to have your own Flash-adorned site...
