Which Streaming Media Tool Do I Need?
By Bob Peyser
January 24, 2000

Users Ask "Which software tool(s) should I use to make and deploy streaming media?"

One site that tries to answer that question is our sister site: Internet Product Watch. IPW was designed to be an interactive repository of Internet product information: hardware, software, streaming and non-streaming.

"But where on IPW do we find information about streaming media?" First go to the IPW home page. Then click on the link on the right that says "development." That's a good page to bookmark.

Within the development area there are three obvious subsections (see the top of the page for subsections) to visit: audio, rich media, and video (you arrived at the site in the Audio subsection.) They have most of the product information that will help you. But the publishing subsection also has an occasional find like Astound WebCast or Digigami's Weblisher.

Currently there are over eighty streaming media product descriptions, but you can add even more. If you have experience with any Internet based product (streaming media or otherwise) that you want to share with other readers just click on the "submit products" link at the top of any IPW page.

So, go take a look, and maybe you will find just the right product to add sound or streaming images to your Web site.
