I am interested in becoming a website designer. I have 10 years of video and film production experience. I see the huge push in the IT industry. My thoughts are, if I can marry my video and film experience with the IT wave of Site design I may have a fairly good place in the industry.

Is there any particular area of Web design or IT industry that would lend itself to my creative experience and background? How should I go about getting the education I need?

IT (Information Technology) is a big field, and growing bigger, its focus is on programming and networking, setting up servers, writing scripts, etc. Lots of folk are going into IT. Lots more are training for IT. Will you make money in IT if you are well-trained, motivated and smart? Sure, why not. But will you love it? The IT folk that we know are left-brain hyper intelligent certified machine-o-philes with bits for platelets. If you named your cats "One" and "Zero" then go for IT.

On the other hand you may want to carry more of your video and film experience and visual sensitivity to your next career. If so, the question becomes: will there be opportunities on the Web for you? And if so, what will these be?
