A Career in Streaming Video (3)

The Public 8 Ball Speaks
According to the P8B there will be a split in the market for streaming video: digital video on one side, and analog video on the other.

Digital video,
it claims, will serve the individual and their need for data. Streaming video in packets of bits will continue to flow, carrying talking heads with the latest news and analysis for example. New services will also stream that will marry digital butlers with data to serve up prime personal information in a visually rich format that will aid significantly in decision making.

While the market for home brewed digital images continues to explode with cheaper digital video-cams and free on-line storage, more businesses will figure out ways to milk our desire to record our lives and creative spirits with extended family and other affinity sites. All of this will eventually lead to custom services for the upper end of the market which, according to our unerring 8 Ball, will include various video processing needs.

And video entertainment will continue to diffract into many levels of quality and availability, creating the need for armies of highly trained and skilled visual technicians to process raw footage into multi-byte-size pieces for speedy, higher quality viewing. All of this will flow through multiple types of narrow pipes including the pipeless pipe: wireless.

Analog video
But digital is not the only possible future that the P8B pointed out for you to consider Elvin. Analog video will be resurrected as the fire that we gather around in groups. Last mile delivery solutions like fiber optics will erase the advantage of compressed digital packets for these shareable experiences and usher in the rebirth of smoother analog media. Pop the popcorn and come into the media womb children, we are about to really know why "It's a Wonderful Life."

More and more images, more and more sound, and it's all going to need to be edited, processed, compressed, stored and transmitted. The streaming future looks bright Elvin. But we've said that before, years before.
